My antibodies haven’t returned to normal after I was diagnosed with celiac disease, should I do another scope?

If you have celiac disease and follow a gluten-free diet, then your antibody levels should decline and eventually return to normal. In fact, this is how we test compliance to the diet. It’s rare that someone with celiac disease needs another biopsy if already responding to a gluten-free diet. If your antibody levels aren’t returning to normal, work with a medical professional to determine if gluten is somehow sneaking into your diet, or explore other causes for this issue. July, 2012
