Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a connection between celiac disease and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE)?

We’re more frequently seeing an association between EoE and celiac disease. In these cases, diets may also need to eliminate milk, soy, egg, fish and nuts, but a medical professional should only decide this after careful examination. EoE is an allergic inflammatory condition of the esophagus that can cause difficulty in swallowing and heartburn, and in severe cases it can lead to food impaction (food getting stuck in the esophagus) and in children, a failure to thrive (poor growth or weight loss).
